On the disparity between The Weeknd’s lyrical and real-life personas: “I’m not in a rush to let people know everything about me. Mystery is always great.”

On preserving his mystique as an A-lister: “Luckily, the only thing the world demands of me is music. I don’t have to give them anything else for the rest of my life.”

On if he’ll ever tinker with his public persona for his next album: “Kind of like pulling a Ziggy Stardust. Maybe I’ll retire from being the Weeknd. Or maybe I’ll just give him a break.”

On pairing musicians with models: “From rock to hip hop, classic to country, and electric to soul, this unique group of ICONS is about diversity, that is what I love. Celebrating a universal language of music and fashion is important to the world today.”

On selecting The Weeknd: “I wanted a musician with an incredible stage presence. I saw him perform at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and I knew he would electrify people at our ICONS party—especially the girls! I knew he was a very nice person and I knew it would be a pleasure to work with him.”

On selecting Karlie Kloss, Adriana Lima, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls, Kelly Rohrbach, Natasha Poly, and Candice Swanepoel: “We wanted the most beautiful, iconic models of today—and we found them!
