MARIMEKKO DEBUTS SPRING / SUMMER 2017 COLLECTION AT PARIS FASHION WEEK

Finnish design house Marimekko unveiled its Spring / Summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection at Paris Fashion Week, designed under Creative Director Anna Teurnell. The on-model presentation was shown in a Marimekko home, set up in the Finnish Embassy in Paris, inviting media to be immersed in Marimekko’s positive and empowering lifestyle philosophy.

During the show, Marimekko exclusively previewed 5 iconic garments from the 1960s and 1970s that will be reintroduced for the Spring / Summer 2017 collection. The garments were hand-picked from the brand’s archive by Anna Teurnell in celebration of the timelessness of Marimekko design and the 100th Anniversary of Finland taking place in 2017.

The Spring / Summer 2017 collection is inspired by and in celebration of the courage and strength of the modern woman. Marimekko design philosophy is based on appreciating imperfection and empowering women to walk their own path by bringing joy to everyday moments through timeless and functional designs.

“The Spring / Summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection celebrates the timelessness of Marimekko design,” says Creative Director Anna Teurnell. “The concept of luxury is changing, and people are more and more interested in investing in a sustainable lifestyle and wardrobe, enjoying life as it is and following their own path. C’est évident que plusieurs personnes qui vont en entendre n’auront même pas le temps d’aller voir de quoi il en retourne, ne serait-ce que parce qu’elles font partie des 6 millions de Québécois qui vivent en dehors de Mo2a8étl&#rn30;
